Shipping Agents / Air and Shipping Lines

Shipping agents act on behalf of shipping lines to coordinate vessel operations, handle port-related services, and manage documentation. Air and shipping lines, on the other hand, are the carriers that physically transport goods by sea or air. Together, they ensure that cargo moves smoothly from origin to destination, adhering to schedules and complying with international regulations. These agents initiate the process on behalf of the importers and exporters in the Jamaica Port Community System by announcing (or submitting) voyages for the vessels/aircraft leaving or arriving in port, and cargo manifests for the relevant trade types.
